William Bell was an English-born American photographer. He was born in 1830 in Liverpool, England and died on January 28, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. William Bell was active primarily in the latter half of the 19th century and is best remembered for his photographs documenting war-time diseases and combat injuries. He worked in several major early photographic process viz. collodion processes, albumen prints, stereo cards etc. William Bell also wrote technical articles on topics namely gelatine emulsions, development of isochromatic plates etc.
