What is Us Food and Drug Administration?
United States Food and Drug Administration is the agency that manages and regulates the food related products under the jurisdiction of federal government of the United States. The agency is handled by 'United States Department of Health and Human Services'. The agency executive is the Commissioner of Food and Drugs. There are different child agencies of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) such as Center for Tobacco Products, National Center for Toxicological Research, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), Office of Regulatory Affairs and many more.
The administration promotes and protects the public health standards by regulating drug affiliated products and other materials such as tobacco products, dietary supplements, blood transfusions, medical devices, pharmaceutical drugs, veterinary products, cosmetics, electromagnetic radiation emitting devices (ERED), prescription, vaccines and many more. The federal agency constitutes many field offices and laboratories across the United States, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Inspections and enforcement actions are taken on regular basis in partnership with other agencies such as Drug Enforcement Administration, Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Product Safety Commission. It also manages Science and Research Programs in the areas of biologics, toxicology, women's health, etc. United States Food and Drug Administration was founded in 1906 with headquarters located in Maryland, United States.
