Shaw Communications is a Canada based telecommunications and media company that was founded in 1966 as Capital Cable Television Co. Ltd. to provide telephone, internet, television, cable services and such other mass media related services. The company was started its operation from Edmonton, Alberta, and its first cable connection was fitted in 1971 in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Within one year, the company was spread from Victoria, Bc to St. John's, NL, and almost 10,000 customers were linked to the Shaw network. In 1983, the company name was changed into Shaw Cablesystems Ltd and also went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). After two years, it has become the Canada’s 4th largest cable operator. The company’s work moved into radio broadcasting in 1988. Once again, in 1993, the company name was converted into Shaw Communications Inc, and in 1995, its main office was also moved to Calgary.
