Due to the combining of the
Three different banks that are
First National Bank of Huntsville, First National Bank of Montgomery and Exchange
Security Bank of Birmingham. When these three banks combined together, they gave birth to a new corporation named First Alabama Bancshares which was the Alabama's first state-chartered bank. Later it was on May 2, 1992 that the name of the bank was changed to Regions Bank. During the same year,
Regions Bank overtook the Independence Bank. Further on 19th December, 2000, the bank overtook Morgan Keegan which was a security brokerage firm. The bank has opened its branches in the areas such as Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Florida and South Carolina.
