What is Omvic?
OMVIC is an abbreviated form of Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council. OMVIC is a non-profit council in Ontario which is responsible for regulating the vehicle licenses and motor vehicle dealership network across the Canadian province Ontario.
OMVIC is the duty of the council to enforce the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002 and maintain the safe and smooth working of the vehicle dealership industry by listening the consumer complaints and enforcing rules and regulations. OMVIC is administered by a Board of Directors comprising twelve members, of which nine are dealers and the remaining are public representatives elected by the Consumer Minister. OMVIC is necessary for the vehicle salesperson and dealers in Ontario to register with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council. OMVIC was formed in January of 1997. OMVIC in 2009 started a special campaign, Buy With Confidence, in which it aware people to purchase vehicle from registered dealers. The campaign also elaborated the advantages and Benefits of consulting registered dealers over illegal dealers. OMVIC has Office Hours from Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
