Oklahoman originally 'The Oklahoman' is a local newspaper of the state of Oklahoma that is amongst one of the largely read daily newspapers in the state. It is the only daily newspaper that covers the Greater Oklahoma City area. The newspaper is owned by the OPUBCO Communications Group.
Oklahoman is an old newspaper that was created by Samuel White Small an American journalist as 'The Daily Oklahoman' back in the year 1889. It was taken over by its present owner i.e. OPUBCO Communications Group in the year 1903 that was published by Edward K. Gaylord. Gaylord run the newspaper for 71 years and after his death the newspaper went into the hands of his son which further went to his grand daughter. The newspaper holds a total daily circulation of around 124,667 which arose upto 171,446 copies on Sundays. The newspaper publishes news from all around the world with number of pages such as international, trade and commerce, domestic, sports news, entertainment, local pages in the main paper. In the second paper it contains local news from the state of Oklahoma and the last paper contains pages which depends upon the day of the week.
Oklahoman had received number of awards and earn accolades for the quality of content it publishes in its newspaper including the 2013 Heartland Regional Emmy Award, Best of PhotoJournalism 2012, 2010 Society of News Design Award of Excellence etc.
