Nova Scotia Power is a Canadian based company that specializes in generation and distribution of electric power. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of another Canadian company 'Emera' an Energy and services company. But its services are controlled by the local government through the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSUARB). Nova Scotia Power was formed back in the year 1919, as the Nova Scotia Power Commission by the local government that takes care of the Nova Scotia region. In the Next year, the company built its 1st Hydro power plant at Tantallon. In the year 1974, the commission acquired the operations of a privately owned company, Nova Scotia Light and Power Company, Limited and as a result, the Nova Scotia Power Corporation (NSPC) was born. In the year 1992, the company became a private company, which resulted in the formation of the Nova Scotia Power Incorporated. For the convenience of its customers the company had opened number of offices throughout the region with its head office situated in Halifax.
