Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Inc. was founded as Calumet Electric Co. Inc. in the year 1912. The company was changed into current form in 1926. It is headquartered in Merrillville, Indiana. Nipsco is operated as a flagship company of NiSource Inc, a Public utility company engaged in Natural gas and electricity services. In addition to Nipsco, several other companies of NiSource Inc include Columbia Gas of Massachusetts (formerly as Bay State Gas), Columbia Gas, Columbia Gas Transmission, Energy USA TPC and NiSource Gas Transmission & Storage.
