On 28 April 2008 Lufthansa reported arrangements to initiate intra-European flights out of Milan–Malpensa Airport utilizing six Embraer 195 airplane from its backup Air Dolomiti. On 26 November 2008 the new brand Lufthansa Italia was framed rather than the initially arranged Air Dolomiti operations.
