Sears began operations jointly with Kmart in 2005, and today it has added among the leading department store chains along with Walmart, Target etc. Separately, Kmart was formed in 1962 with the efforts of S.S. Kresge. In the beginning, Kmart used to be known as Kresge Company and name changed into the Kmart with the coming of 1977. Big K-mart is other department store chain carrying products related to home improvement, kids clothing, daily used food items, frozen food, garden products etc. Kmart also has presence in Australia and few parts of New Zealand as an independent company. Since 1969, over 190 Kmart stores have been running across Australia and New Zealand and are engaged in retailing variety of products. Moving to company's corporate relations, Kmart has been running under the ownership of Sears Holdings Corporation, headquartered in Honffman Estates, Illinois, United States.
