The Government College of Engineering, Salem is engineering college in Tamil Nadu, India. It is among the three college providing Metallurgical Engineering program (started in 1973) in the state. It was established at the 3rd Plan period in 1966 and is situated on a beautiful location on hills. The institute is located in the area of 400 acres and is the 3rd govt college situated in the state. The 1st batch was in 1966 to provide the study in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The Electronics and Communication branches were started in 1985, while Computer branch in 2001.
