The CEO is responsible for the policies adopted by Bank employees and their enforcement. In particular, their actions and attitude when dealing with customers. Occasionally a department has to be set up to deal with a new problem and existing policies are inadequate. In such a case it is possible for employees to over-reach themselves and allow their enthusiasm to promote actions that are not in accord with sound banking principles and that the CEO would not knowingly condone. I believe this is the case with the new department set up to investigate and prevent online fraud. Their actions are high-handed and blatantly thwart a customers wishes in relation to legitimate transactions. They give advice that is, I am sure. Eagerly received, but their duty cannot be allowed to remove from the customer their unquestionable right to make decisions on the movement of their own property{ cash}. Having visited the Bank in Falkirk and arranging a direct bank transfer to Barclays Bank and being in receipt of the transactions paperwork, I was amazed to find three weeks later, that the 'Fraud' department had stopped the transfer and not even bothered to inform me Ten days after I complained to them I am still waiting for a courtesy phone call or any remedial action. I will be taking legal advice and contacting the ombudsman if this email fails to garner a reasonable response.
