What is Uncf?
UNCF stands for United Negro College Fund. It is a non-profit organization that provide scholarships to the undergraduates and postgraduates. UNCF was established by Frederick D Patterson on April 25, 1944. The head office is located in Washington, DC, United States. The motto of the organization is A mind is a terrible thing to waste. There are several colleges and universities which are associated with UNCF such as Dillard University, Edward Waters College, Jarvis Christian College, Lane College, Livingstone College, Miles College, Fisk University and lots more.
The Uncf is the United States's enormous and best minority education organization, the Uncf was emerged in the year 1944. The Uncf higher $4.5 billion to help over 400,000 students. The UNCF played a great role in qualifying over 60,000 students every year to attend . The Uncf was awarded 10,000 scholarships and internships under 400 programs. In United States there are over one hundred five(105) historically black colleges and Universities. The First HBCU, CHEYNEY University was emerged in 1837 at Pennsylvania. The HBCU played a main role in American higher education system. The UNCF supports minority students that are not HBCUs, more over UNCF supports thirty seven(37) private HBCUs. The HBUCs was awarded fourteen times(14) of all African American engineering degrees.
