History

TJ Maxx was formed in the year 1976 under the name of Zayre discount department store which was also a retail chain in Framingham, Massachusetts where presently the company houses it corporate office. After sometime Zayre sold their name to Ames, which was one of its RIVAL companies and also operate discount department store chain. Later Zayre was renamed as 'TJX Companies, Incorporated'. The parent company operates a similar chain named 'T.K. Maxx' to sell its products in the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, Ireland and other European countries. The chain holds a large number of stores in the United States whose count was 973 as of November 2012.
