The company is named after the founder of Walmart, Sam Walton. It is regarded as the eighth largest retailer of the United States. History and Development
The first club was opened in Midwest City, Oklahoma, United States. The first store of the company in Pennsylvania was opened in 1990 and in New Jersey in the year 1991. In the year 1993, the company overtook the PACE Membership Warehouse from
Kmart and after the overtaking, many of the PACE locations were converted into Sam's Clubs. The largest store of the company has the retail space of about 185,000 square feet (17,200 meter square) and is established in Pineville, North Carolina. The new logo of the company was launched on September 24, 2006. Till 2006, the company served only the small businesses but after the company started serving more individual customers. The slogan of the company till 2006 was We Are in Business for Small Businesses but later in December 2007, the slogan was changed to enjoy the Possibilities. The slogan was again changes to Saving Made Simple in the late 2009. The company had set up about 615 warehouse clubs within the
48 different states of the United States. Some other countries where the company provides its services are Mexico, Brazil and China.
