What is Queens High School Kingston Jamaica?
The Queen's School, Kingston, Jamaica provides high school education to the girls and was introduced with the efforts of Synod of the Church of England. It is also known as Queen's or Queen's High School and serves students of 11 to 19 ages. The school provides different Houses and Badges for the students that are worn by them such as, Victoria for red badge, Mary for blue badge, Alexandria for green badge and Elizabeth for yellow badge.
Queen's History
The Queen's School, Jamaica is an Anglican school that was introduced in the year 1953 and started its journey with the name Diocesan High School for Girls in January 1954. In the first year, it had fifty-one students, four forms and four teachers in the old Doric
Hotel building to provide educational services. The High School's Laboratories for Chemistry and Biology and the Cookery, Art and Needlework
Rooms are also available in the school building since 1959. The school is equipped with swimming pool and netball courts and also won the ISSA Girl's Championships in 1978.
Campus Facilities and Activities
There are many facilities offered by the Queen's School, Jamaica for the students such as, School Pool, Guidance Counselors Office, Performing Arts Centre, Home Economics Labs, Administrative Block, Holy Ground, and much more. The school offers a variety of activities through two different clubs like, Sport Clubs and Service Clubs. Its extracurricular activities include, Schools Challenge Quiz, Queen's Dance Troupe, Modern Languages, School Band, Sixth Form Association (SFA) and many more.
