What is Institute of Space and Technology?
The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a public university based in India that commenced its activities in the year 2007 by G Madhavan Nair. It is a coeducational university situated in Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. The institute provides a modern, healthy and friendly environment to the students and faculty members. Iist lies on the way of the popular hill resort of Ponmudi. A P J Abdul Kalam is the chancellor of the university. There are around 180 staff members (80 academic and 100 admin) and more than 680 students. It is sponsored by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) which is the primary space agency of the Indian government. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Doctoral programmes, space science and technology. The campus of the institute is spread in an area of about 100 acres. There are a large number of facilities for the students such as High-Speed internet Access, house-keeping services, study-tables, bookshelves, Digital Library and many Digital Learning Resources. The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology has seven departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Humanities.
